Trip Itinerary
Day 1
ARRIVAL AT THESSALONIKI AIRPORT. Transfer to the hotel - Free afternoon. Optional city walk to experience the nightlife of Thessaloniki. Overnight in hotel in Thessaloniki.
Day 2
THESSALONIKI CITY TOUR - VERIA - VERGINA (FULL DAY). After breakfast, we’ll explore Thessaloniki, where Paul preached during his missionary journeys and wrote the epistles “To Thessalonians.” Our tour includes the scenic seafront, the White Tower, the Museum area, the University Campus, Roman monuments, and Byzantine-era churches (UNESCO). We’ll visit the Church of Saint Demetrius, then head to the citadel for panoramic views and a coffee break. Next, we depart for Veria (Berea), where Paul preached and founded a church. We’ll visit the old synagogue and Paul’s monument before continuing to Vergina (Aegae), the legendary burial site of Macedonian kings (UNESCO). Here, we’ll explore the museum housing King Philip II’s tomb. Return to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
THESSALONIKI - PHILIPPI - KAVALA (FULL DAY). After breakfast, we depart for Philippi, where Paul delivered his 1st sermon in Europe in 49 AD. He preached outside the city walls, conver琀椀ng Lydia and her family. We’ll visit the archaeological site (UNESCO), including the ancient theater, forum, early Christian churches, and St. Paul’s Prison. Next, we’ll visit Lydia’s Baptismal site before heading to Kavala, the ancient city of Neapolis, where Paul landed with Timothy and Silas. Later renamed Christoupolis, it was the 1st European city to accept Christianity. After optional lunch, we’ll see Paul’s monument and the Roman Aqueduct. Return to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4
KALAMBAKA - METEORA (FULL DAY) After breakfast, we’ll head to the stunning Meteora Monasteries (UNESCO). Passing Mount Olympus and crossing the Thessalian plain, we’ll arrive at this unique landscape, where towering rocks host centuries-old monasteries. Built in the 14th century by monks seeking solitude, these monasteries are among Greece’s most important. We’ll visit the Great Meteoron, now a museum, to admire its frescoes, icons, and manuscripts. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka.
Day 5
DELPHI - ATHENS. After breakfast, we’ll journey to Delphi (UNESCO). According to mythology, Zeus declared Delphi the “Omphalus” (center) of Mother Earth. At the archaeological site, we’ll explore the Apollonian Sanctuary, including treasure houses, retaining walls, the Temple of Apollo, the Altar, and the Theater. In the nearby museum, we’ll admire artifacts, statues, and the renowned Bronze Charioteer. After lunch, we’ll depart for Athens. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
Day 6
PANORAMIC TOUR OF THE CITY OF ATHENS. Visit the Acropolis (UNESCO) to admire the Parthenon, Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, and Erechtheion, masterpieces of the Golden Age. Enjoy a panoramic city tour, passing Constitution Square, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Parliament, and the neoclassical buildings of Panepistimiou Avenue. See Hadrian’s Gate, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Panathenaic Stadium with a brief photo stop. After free time for lunch at a local tavern, visit the Acropolis Museum to admire sculptures from the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion’s Caryatids, and the Parthenon. Overnight in Athens.
Day 7
CORINTH - CENCHREA (HALF DAY). After breakfast, we’ll depart for ancient Corinth (Acts 18:1-18), passing historical sites like Salamis, Eleusis, Megara, and the Corinth Canal (coffee and photo stop). Corinth was a thriving trade hub with two ports, Lechaion and Cenchreae. Destroyed in 146 BC, it was revived by Julius Caesar in 44 BC. Paul arrived in 50 AD, working as a tentmaker with Priscilla and Aquila, leaving a lasting legacy. We’ll visit the museum and archaeological site, including the Forum, Temple of Apollo, Roman Odeon, and the Bema where Paul stood trial. Before returning to Athens for dinner and overnight, we’ll stop at the ancient port of Cenchreae (Acts 18:18). Alternatively: Visit the quaint town of Nafplio for lunch and free time.
Day 8
DEPARTURE. Breakfast - Depending on the flight schedule, transfer from Athens airport.
